Gifu Seiryu-Satoyama Park, previously known as Japan Showa Village, is a free-to-enter park in Minokamo, Gifu Prefecture. This park in the middle of Japan is a wonderful place to enjoy both the surrounding nature, and the traditional culture represented by Showa-era buildings and the cultural activities offered in the park. In this selected activity, you will get hands-on making a kaleidoscope, using decorative Japanese designs for a unique souvenir to take away. You’ll also enjoy lunch included in the price, at any restaurant in the park. Try traditional Japanese foods at places like the Satoyama Canteen, cafe, Dango Tea Shop, bakery, farm restaurant, or soba noodle restaurant. While you’re in the park, you can also check out the many other experiences like making soba noodles, ziplining, go-karting, or even soaking in an ‘onsen’ hot spring spa! The park has numerous amenities from the modern to the traditional, and you can easily enjoy a full day here trying more activities, shopping for souvenirs, or just relaxing in nature.

This activity is available every hour from 10:00 to 12:00. It lasts for an hour, and roughly follows this sample schedule:

10:00 — Meet at the entrance of Gifu Seiryu-Satoyama Park
10:10 — Orientation; explanation of COVID-19 prevention measures
10:20 — Kaleidoscope-making activity begins
11:00 — Activity ends; time for shopping and/or other activities such as lunch
